1. Who you are buying from

This shop is operated by Madeira Friends Enterprise, Lda, Rua dos Barreiros 26A, Santa Maria Maior, 9060-397 Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. You can reach us at hello@madeirafriends.com or on +353 86 185 6510.

These terms apply to every order placed on madeiraonlineshop.com. By placing an order you accept them. They do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

2. Prices and VAT

All prices are shown in euros and include VAT at the rate applicable in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. Shipping is added at checkout and shown before you pay. We may change prices at any time, but the price that applies to your order is the one shown when you place it.

3. Placing an order

Adding an item to your cart is not a reservation. Your order is a purchase offer; the contract is formed when we confirm your order by email. If an item turns out to be unavailable, or a price was clearly wrong, we may decline the order and refund you in full.

4. Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe. We accept the cards and payment methods shown at checkout. Your card details are handled by Stripe and never reach our servers. Your invoice is issued and sent to you by email.

5. Shipping and delivery

Because wine and gift boxes are heavy and fragile, each bottle of wine and each gift box is shipped as its own parcel and pays its own shipping. All clothing in the same order ships together as a single parcel.

Shipping rates per parcel:

  • Portugal — Standard 25 EUR, Express 30 EUR.
  • Rest of Europe — Standard 35 EUR, Express 45 EUR.

Free shipping: orders shipped to Portugal that contain only clothing and reach 100 EUR in products ship free. This offer does not apply to wine or gift boxes, and it does not apply if the order also contains wine or a gift box.

Standard delivery usually takes 2 to 5 business days, Express 1 to 3, counted from dispatch. These are estimates, not guarantees: customs and carrier delays are outside our control. Risk of loss passes to you when the parcel is delivered to you.

6. Your right to change your mind

If you are a consumer in the EU, you may cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason. Tell us at hello@madeirafriends.com before the 14 days are up, then send the goods back within 14 days of telling us.

Goods must come back unused, in resaleable condition and in their original packaging. You pay the cost of returning them. We refund you within 14 days of receiving the goods back, using the same payment method you used, including the standard delivery cost of the original order.

By law this right does not apply to sealed goods unsealed after delivery that cannot be returned for health or hygiene reasons, or to goods made to your specification.

7. Faulty or wrong items

If something arrives damaged, faulty or is not what you ordered, email hello@madeirafriends.com with a photo and your order number and we will make it right at our cost. As a consumer you have a legal guarantee of conformity on new goods under Portuguese law; nothing here limits it.

8. Alcohol

Some of our products contain alcohol. By ordering them you confirm you are of legal drinking age, both where you live and where the order is delivered. We may refuse or cancel an order if we have reason to believe otherwise. It is your responsibility to check that alcohol may lawfully be imported into your country.

9. Discount codes

Discount codes apply to the price of the products only, never to shipping. Unless we say otherwise, a code cannot be combined with another, has no cash value and may be withdrawn at any time. We may cancel an order and refund it if a code has been used in bad faith.

10. Our content

The text, photographs, logos and design on this site belong to Madeira Friends Enterprise, Lda or are used with permission. Please do not reuse them commercially without asking us first.

11. Liability

We are liable for damage we cause you as the law provides. Nothing in these terms excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Portuguese law, and the courts of Funchal have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your own courts.

If we cannot resolve a complaint between us, you can use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Under Portuguese law (Lei 144/2015) consumers may also refer a dispute to an approved alternative dispute resolution body.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.
